Overview
We work with schools to create visits which are tailored to your curriculum. Groups will have the opportunity to view original archive documents while our team explains who wrote them, how they were used and why they are useful to us today. Pupils will take part in source based activities, interactive tasks, crafts and document handling. Learning also includes why archives are important, why we keep certain documents and how we conserve them.
Sessions can include how to use microfilm readers (for newspapers and parish registers) and researching house and family history. Recent tailored sessions have seen pupils discover our criminal records, WWI archives and Tudor documents.
